ABOUT THE AUTHORS:
Pavel Lembersky was born in Odessa, Ukraine and emigrated to the United States in 1977. After receiving his BA in comparative literature from The University of California at Berkeley, Pavel did graduate work in film at San Francisco State University and worked in New York City on film projects such as Jonathan Demme’s and Spalding Gray’s Swimming To Cambodia, as well as Steven Wright’s Oscar-winning short The Appointments of Dennis Jennings, among others.
Pavel authored five story collections and a novel. His short stories have been translated into English, German, Finnish and Vietnamese and have appeared in literary magazines such as Little Star, Words Without Borders, The Brooklyn Rail, Trafica Europe, Fiction International, Gargoyle, Inostrannaia Literatura, Novy Mir, Teatr, Gvideon, Colta, Textonly etc. Pavel’s short story collection Fluss Nr. 7 was published in Frankfurt. More recently Lembersky’s collection Here’s Looking at You, Kid and De Kooning came out in Kyiv (2018) and New York (2019). For years Pavel hosted a radio talk show in New York City. His most recent story collection, The Death of Samusis, and Other Stories came out in 2020.
Maxim Matusevich is professor of History at Seton Hall University, where he also directs the Russian and East European Studies Program. He has published extensively as a historian of Africa and the Cold War. Maxim also writes fiction – mostly in English, but occasionally in his native Russian. His short stories, essays, and a couple of novellas appeared in the Kenyon Review, New England Review, the Bare Life Review, Transitions, San Antonio Review, MumberMag, Anti-Heroin-Chic, BigCityLit, the Wild Word, Foreign Literary, ReLevant, East-West Literary Forum, WordCity Literary Journal, Fatal Flaw Literary Journal, and a number of other publications.
Marek Kulig immigrated to the USA from Poland in 1992. He was a high school English teacher for 6 years and is currently a sales representative for a molecular diagnostics laboratory. His poems and translations were published or are about to be published in The Orchards Poetry Journal, Spire Light, Jet Fuel Review, Under Review, Seneca Review, Cagibi, National Translation Month and others.
